Terms of use

Ultimo aggiornamento:

1. What these terms are

These terms govern your use of this website and of the CycladesGo island planners. By using them you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site; the service is free and there is nothing to lose by not using it.

The English text is the authoritative version. Other language versions may lag behind it, and where they conflict the English text governs.

2. What CycladesGo is

CycladesGo is an editorial information service. We publish, free of charge, a readable presentation of bus routes, published timetables and published fares for five Cyclades islands, together with commentary about how those services work.

CycladesGo is not a travel agency, a tour operator, a passenger transport operator, a ticketing system or a ticket sales office. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorised by or operated by KTEL Naxos, KTEL Paros, KTEL Cyclades, Milos Buses, Ios Local Buses or any ferry company. We do not carry passengers, we do not sell tickets, and we take no commission on any fare.

3. What is inside the scope of the service

  • Route, stop and timetable information

Which lines exist, which stops they serve, where those stops are mapped, and the times the operator has published. Every time carries the date it was retrieved and the date it is verified until.

  • Curated fare information

The fare the operator publishes, checked by hand and reconciled monthly. It is information, not a quoted price, and it is not a contractual offer to supply a journey at that price.

  • Journey planning between scheduled services

Combining published services and walking legs to suggest a route. The result is a suggestion built on a schedule, not a reservation and not a commitment.

4. What is explicitly outside it

The following are not provided. They are not degraded versions of things we do provide; they are not provided at all, and nothing on this site should be read as implying otherwise.

  • Live vehicle positions

There is no vehicle feed, no arrivals, no departures board, and no way to tell you where a bus is or whether it is running. We will not scrape one.

  • Disruption alerts

Cancellations, diversions, delays, strikes, road closures and event-related changes are not published, are not monitored, and will not be announced by this site.

  • Ticket availability

We do not know whether a bus has room, whether seats are reserved, or whether a ticket exists. We sell nothing and hold no inventory.

  • Boarding and accessibility information

Kerb heights, vehicle types, ramp or lift availability, wheelchair boarding, and the practical usability of a stop are not published. The stop position we publish is a mapped point, not a boarding instruction.

Where a page is silent on something, that silence is a scope limit and not an omission you may rely on. Ask us and we will say whether it is in scope.

5. Prices and contractual prices

Bus fares on these islands are set by the operators. Any fare shown on this site is published as information, taken from the operator's own published fare, and dated. It is not a quotation, not an offer, and not a contractual price within the meaning of the Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU.

No contract is concluded when you read a fare here. The price you pay is the price the driver charges you, in cash, at the moment you board, and that is the only price that binds anybody. If the fare on the vehicle differs from the fare here, the fare on the vehicle is the fare, and we would like to know so that we can correct our page.

Nothing on this site creates a contract of carriage, a contract for the provision of a service, or any obligation to provide a journey. The bus you board is a contract with the operator, on the operator's terms.

6. Availability of the service

The free parts of this service are provided as they are. We may change, suspend, or withdraw any part of the service at any time and without notice, including a whole island planner, an entire dataset, or the site itself.

In particular, when an island dataset passes the date after which we are willing to publish it, the build fails and that island is withdrawn. This is intentional: an empty planner is more useful than a stale one. It has happened, and it is written up in the changelog.

7. Liability

This site is published under Greek law, and the following is our position under it, to the extent that the law permits such a position to be taken.

We accept no liability for indirect or consequential loss, and for loss of profit, revenue, opportunity, holiday, transport or accommodation. We are not liable for the consequences of relying on a published schedule that was wrong, incomplete or out of date.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or in connection with the free parts of this service is limited to intent and gross negligence, and to the extent permitted by law. Liability for slight fault is excluded. We are not liable for the acts or omissions of any bus operator, ferry company or third party, and nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

So that the practical reality is clear: this is an unpaid, free information service, there is no contract of carriage with us, and the worst realistic outcome of a claim is a modest damages award. Greek law has no punitive damages regime, so there is no multiple of a defendant's gain to fear. If you are considering a claim that is larger than that, the commercial reality is that there is no fund here to satisfy it.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

8. Licence of the data

The curation work we do — selecting and normalising operator timetables, structuring routes, transcribing and curating fares, matching stops to coordinates, and writing the adapters and pipeline — is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC-BY 4.0). You may reuse and adapt it, including commercially, provided you attribute CycladesGo, link to the data page, and indicate whether you made changes.

Stop coordinates, road geometry, route shapes and place names are derived from OpenStreetMap and are licensed under the Open Database License 1.0. ODbL is a copyleft licence: if you use a derived database or a substantial part of one, you must make your own database available under ODbL, and you must keep the attribution to OpenStreetMap contributors. That obligation applies to those parts and is not removed by the CC-BY terms above.

Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the ODbL. The full statement, including the download URLs, is on the open data page.

9. Licence of the code

The source code of this site is private and no licence to it is granted. The island planners are a separate, proprietary codebase; nothing on this site grants any rights to either source tree. The data is a different matter and is published openly: the CC-BY and ODbL terms are on the open data page.

10. Sponsorship and advertising

CycladesGo is a commercial project funded by sponsorship and donations. Sponsorship buys advertising placement and nothing else: it has never bought and will never buy a data correction, a route being added or removed, a change to a known-limits page, or a word in an editorial article. Sponsored content is identified as such and is kept in its own container, separate from editorial text. The full rules are in the sponsorship policy.

11. Third-party names

Bus operators, ferry companies and other businesses are named on this site solely to identify who actually runs a service, and always next to a link to that party's own site. Their names remain their property. We reproduce no operator logo, wordmark graphic or timetable artwork, and the mention of a name here is not a statement about that party's products.

12. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed, and the revised version applies from that moment. Continuing to use the service after that constitutes acceptance.
