About CycladesGo

Last updated:

CycladesGo is a small, independent project. It is a family of free planners for island buses, plus this site, which explains where the data comes from and what it cannot do. This page is about who is behind it and, just as importantly, what it is not.

What this is not

  • Not a travel agency. We do not sell, book, reserve or issue bus tickets, and we take no commission on any fare.

  • Not a ticket sales office. There is no counter, no payment page and no seat reservation anywhere on this site.

  • Not affiliated with any operator. We are not connected to, endorsed by, authorised by or operated by KTEL Naxos, KTEL Paros, KTEL Cyclades, Milos Buses, Ios Local Buses or any ferry company. Operator names appear only to say who actually runs each service.

  • Not a departure board. Every time here is a scheduled time taken from a published timetable. We have no vehicle feed and cannot tell you whether a bus is running.

  • Not the operator's customer service. If a bus is late, cancelled or has left, the number you need is the operator's, and it is on every island page here.

CycladesGo is a commercial project: it takes sponsorship and donations to pay for hosting, the data refresh and the domain. Being commercial makes it a trader in law, which is why the sponsorship policy, the terms of use and the accessibility statement exist as real documents rather than as a paragraph at the bottom of a page. Sponsorship buys advertising placement and nothing else — see the sponsorship policy.

How AI is used here

We use language models as drafting tools for written content, and we say so rather than hoping nobody notices. In practice that means first drafts, restructurings, headings, summaries and consistency passes on prose, including prose on this page.

What is not drafted by a model: the numbers, the timetables, the fares, the stop coordinates, the validity dates and the changelog. Those come from operators, from OpenStreetMap, and from hand verification. A model is not asked to produce a departure time and no departure time on this site was ever produced by one.

Everything published is read by a person before it goes out, and a person is accountable for it. The tests for anything factual are the source and the date, not how confident the text sounds. Where we cannot verify a claim, we publish the limit rather than the claim — that is the entire reason the known-limits page reads the way it does.

Why it exists

Because island bus timetables are published as images, PDFs and phone numbers, and because the moment you most need them is the moment your phone has no signal, is flat or is out of battery. A planner that installs once and works on a bus with no coverage solves a small problem that everybody who has visited these islands has had.

The second reason is that the same answer works badly. Somebody asking an assistant "when is the last bus from Apollon" is usually told a time that was scraped from a five-year old page. This site exists partly to be a source that can be cited properly: dated, attributed, and explicit about what it does not know.

Getting in touch

  • A timetable is wrong

Use the report form, which reaches the same inbox. Reports that change a published number end up in the changelog, dated.

    Report a problem
  • Sponsor or support

Hosting, the data refresh and the domain are paid for. Sponsorship buys placement and nothing else.

    Sponsors

E-mail: hello@cycladesgo.com. This address is a placeholder in the current build. The real one is set before launch and is the address named in the imprint. We answer e-mail, not a support queue, and we cannot help with a specific bus on a specific afternoon — for that, phone the operator.

Corrections

We have been wrong in published ways that mattered: a destination label on Naxos that took the island offline, and two stops on Paros placed at the wrong coordinates. Both are written up with dates in the changelog, and the fixes are described there as well. If you find another, we will publish it too, including the ones that make us look bad.
